Western Philippines University (WPU) faculty member Mr. Dale C. Caabas of the College of Education (CED) was named Outstanding Research Presenter during the 2nd MIMAROPA Adolescent and Youth Health and Development (AYHD) Regional Summit, held from August 11 to 14, 2026.

Caabas received the recognition for his research presentation before regional stakeholders during the four-day summit organized by the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) MIMAROPA).

Representing WPU alongside Caabas were Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) students HC Lacod and Angiline G. Paradiero, who presented their respective research studies during the gathering.

Held under the theme “Game On, Kabataan: Investing in Young People, Securing MIMAROPA’s Demographic Dividend,” the summit brought together youth leaders, educators, health advocates, and local government leaders to discuss emerging issues and challenges affecting adolescents and young people across the region.

The event went beyond research presentations, featuring leadership development sessions, interactive information booths, cultural performances, and quiz bowl competitions among provincial delegations.

Caabas’ recognition highlights the role of academic research in informing discussions on adolescent and youth concerns, while the participation of Lacod and Paradiero underscores WPU’s continuing efforts to engage students in research and community development initiatives.

The summit concluded on August 14 with regional stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening investments in adolescent health and development, with research serving as a key resource in shaping responsive programs and policies across MIMAROPA.
