The College of Education (CEd) of Western Philippines University (WPU) Main Campus, through its student organization, CEdSO, partnered with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Aborlan Fire Station to conduct a Fire Safety Educational Seminar for students, faculty, and staff on July 16, 2026. The activity strengthened campus preparedness by equipping participants with practical knowledge of fire prevention, emergency response, and proper fire extinguisher use.

Fire Officer 2 Mark I. Gapuz served as the resource speaker, discussing fire prevention and the importance of collective action during emergencies. Fire Officer 2 Dennis R. Encio explained how fires start and outlined appropriate responses when a fire occurs, emphasizing the value of awareness and preparedness in preventing injuries and property damage.

The seminar also featured a demonstration of the proper use of fire extinguishers, including guidance on when they should be used. Participants were allowed to practice extinguishing a controlled fire, allowing them to apply what they had learned in a supervised setting.

By providing practical safety training and promoting cooperation with local emergency responders, WPU helps build a more informed and prepared campus community. The initiative reinforces the importance of fire prevention, personal safety, and collective responsibility in protecting lives and property.
