Western Philippines University, through the Forestry and Environmental Management Students Association (FEMSA), joined Project PAMANA, a mangrove outplanting initiative on July 04, 2026 at Barangay Ramon Magsaysay and Barangay Apo-aporawan, Aborlan, Palawan. The activity, organized by Palawan Katutubo Mission Inc., brought together the Municipality of Aborlan, barangay local government units, the Philippine Coast Guard, Palawan Maritime Police, local coastal communities, youth volunteers, and other partner organizations in a shared effort to restore and protect valuable coastal ecosystems.

Working alongside community partners, FEMSA members participated in planting mangroves and native trees that help strengthen natural coastal defenses, enhance biodiversity, and improve habitats for marine and terrestrial life. Beyond ecosystem restoration, the initiative fostered volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and collaboration among students and local stakeholders. By supporting community-led conservation initiatives such as Project PAMANA, WPU continues to promote shared responsibility in protecting natural resources and building more resilient coastal communities for future generations.
