Three faculty members and two project staff attended the PANACEA (Participatory Approaches for Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation and Mitigation, and Empowering Southeast Asian Coastal Communities) Project’s final meeting in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, on Feb 9-13, 2026.


The Project is funded by the British Academy, led by the University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur) and collaborating with the University of Plymouth (UK), Esa Unggul University (Jakarta, Indonesia), and Western Philippines University, which runs for 20 months, starting in July 2025.


Dr. Lota A. Creencia (Case Study Lead), Mr. John Roderick Madarcos (Co-Project Leader), Ms. Hannah Mae Catalayban (Researcher), Helen Mae Padrones (Project Technical Assistant), and Edward Anthony Layag (Project Technical Aide) represented the WPU team, presenting the project’s accomplishments, outputs, and ways forward.
