President Dr. Amabel S. Liao headed the Western Philippines University (WPU) delegation joining education leaders from around the world at the Global Education Conclave 2025 held in Mohali, India from March 29 to 31. The event was hosted by the Chandigarh Group of Colleges–Mohali and gathered participants from over 50 countries.
This year’s theme was “Leading with Purpose: Global Collaborations for a Sustainable, Inclusive, and Technologically Advanced Future.” It focused on how schools, institutions, and universities can work together across borders to solve global problems through research and innovation.

Dr. Liao was part of a panel discussion with other Filipino education leaders, namely: Dr. Ambrosio Cultura, President of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, Dr. Melbourne Talactac, VP for Research and Extension of Cavite State University, Dr. Dennis de Paz, President of Eastern Visayas State University and Prof. Faustito A. Aure, EVSU Director for Internationalization, who together tackled the topic on “Global Collaborations for Enhancing Sustainability through Research and Innovation.”

In her talk, Dr. Liao shared WPU’s approach to research and how it aims to help people and communities.
“What is it that we, as scientists and researchers, need the public to know? That one thing is: we are not crazy. We are actually doing research because we care. We want to help a lot of people, we want to preserve humanity as a species, and most importantly, prove that we are not mere doomsayers,” she said.

Joining Dr. Liao at the event were Mr. Joseph Dominic Liao, Executive Assistant to the President, and Mr. Kim Kenneth Roca, Internationalization and External Affairs Focal Person.

The conclave was an opportunity for WPU to connect with other universities, share ideas, and explore future partnerships. It also supports WPU’s goal to bring global opportunities to its students, faculty, and researchers.
WPU continues to take part in international activities that help improve education and research for the benefit of the community and the country.
