Western Philippines University (WPU) has officially launched its rebranded Agritourism Showcase and Leisure Park (ASLP), formerly known as S.A.K.A. on July 07, 2025. The newly reopened park highlighted its Community Garden and Kitchen as a space for agricultural learning, student well-being, and sustainable land use. The facility allows students to harvest fresh produce, prepare their own meals, and plant seedlings, bringing them closer to the process of food production.

The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to making agriculture accessible and engaging, including for students outside agriculture-related programs. By connecting planting, harvesting, and food preparation, the park encourages appreciation of agriculture’s role in everyday life while promoting responsible use of natural resources.

Integrated into Aborlan’s tourism circuit, the ASLP is also being developed as an educational and leisure destination for visitors. Its agricultural landscapes demonstrate how productive land can support learning, recreation, and local tourism while maintaining its agricultural value. With continued development, the park aims to strengthen community engagement, create livelihood opportunities, and promote environmental stewardship through sustainable agritourism.

Through the ASLP, WPU showcases how agricultural spaces can serve as living laboratories for food production, responsible land management, and community development.
