Amid growing concerns surrounding teenage pregnancy, the WPU-Health Services Office, in partnership with the WPU-Office of Gender and Development, conducted the Teenage Pregnancy Awareness Symposium last December 5, 2025, at the WPU Gymnasium.

The event brought together young learners in a shared space not only for discussion, but for deeper understanding of a pressing social issue. The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness and educate students about the realities of teenage pregnancy, empowering them with knowledge and values to make informed and responsible decisions. More than a discussion, the symposium served as a platform for learning, reflection, and guidance—encouraging participants to think critically about their choices and the paths they take. Through the efforts of dedicated facilitators and key speakers, the event became both informative and engaging.
Teachers and guests also played an important role in fostering a supportive environment, allowing students to listen, reflect, and actively participate in the conversations. Their collective contributions helped make the symposium meaningful and impactful. More importantly, the initiative emphasized the importance of equipping the youth at an early age with essential values such as self-respect, self-awareness, and accountability.

These values serve as a strong foundation, guiding them toward wise decision-making as they grow older. In the end, the symposium stood as a reminder that education goes beyond the classroom—it is a continuous effort to shape responsible individuals who are prepared to face life’s challenges with awareness, confidence, and integrity.
