Western Philippines University (WPU), through the Research, Innovation, Development and Extension Office (RIDE), Internationalization and External Affairs Office (IEAO) in partnership with the College of Public Administration and Management, successfully conducted the MIMAROPA INSIGHTS: The Mentoring Innovations for Manuscript Advancement and Research Output Publication Academy on October 21–23, 2025 at the WPU–Puerto Princesa Campus.
The three-day activity brought together WPU faculty members, particularly those new to scholarly publication, for a mentoring-based workshop designed to strengthen research and publication capabilities within the MIMAROPA region. Guided by seasoned researchers and journal contributors, the program provided participants with the tools, techniques, and insights necessary to transform their research outputs into manuscripts ready for submission to Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals.
Through hands-on mentoring and interactive sessions, participants explored essential topics such as ethical research, scientific writing frameworks, the use of digital research tools, and the process of transforming theses and dissertations into publishable papers. A highlight of the event was the paper presentation workshop, where participants presented their manuscripts and received valuable feedback from mentors. The exchange of constructive comments and recommendations fostered an atmosphere of scholarly collaboration, enabling participants to refine and strengthen their research works.

The MIMAROPA INSIGHTS program reflects WPU’s strong commitment to fostering a culture of research excellence and continuous innovation. Throughout the sessions, mentors generously shared their experiences and expertise, guiding participants through the demanding process of academic publication. They provided practical advice on how to craft well-structured manuscripts, understand journal requirements, and apply innovative and forward-thinking approaches in designing and presenting research.
By bridging the gap between aspiring and experienced researchers, the activity fostered a supportive mentoring network that will serve as a continuing platform for research collaboration and knowledge exchange among higher education institutions in the region.

Advancing Futures Thinking and Institutional Growth
Aligned with WPU’s Futures Thinking framework, this initiative highlights the university’s proactive approach to building a research-oriented academic community that is responsive to regional and global challenges. Through programs like MIMAROPA INSIGHTS, WPU continues to empower educators to engage in evidence-based, forward-looking, and impactful scholarship.
The university extends its appreciation to the CHED-MIMAROPA team, resource persons, and all participating faculty and staff who contributed to the success of this program. Their collective efforts reaffirm WPU’s role as a strong partner for sustainable development and academic innovation in the region.
