Western Philippines University (WPU) has rolled out Kaen Tami, a free breakfast program at its Main Campus, aimed at supporting students’ well-being and academic performance starting August 12. The initiative provides a daily nutritious meal to students who arrive early for classes, helping them start their day with the energy needed for both learning and engagement.

The program operates every weekday mornings at specified campus food areas. Eligible students may receive breakfast without cost, relieving some of the financial burdens that prevent young learners from accessing proper morning meals. The meals are designed to be simple, balanced, and filling—often including rice, a protein source, and vegetables or fruit.

Kaen Tami is part of WPU’s broader strategy to support student welfare and promote inclusive education. By ensuring that more students can access breakfast, the university hopes to reduce absenteeism, improve concentration during early classes, and foster a more supportive learning environment.

Administrators work through the Office of Student Affairs (or equivalent support services) together with campus food service providers to coordinate the logistics—from food procurement to meal preparation and distribution. Students are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the program. Feedback channels are also in place so the meals can be adjusted over time to better meet nutritional and preference needs.
