Western Philippines University proudly sent its delegation to the 3rd International and 6th National Gender and Development (GAD) Research Congress, held on November 20-22, 2024.

The event brought together researchers, practitioners, and advocates from across the globe to address pressing gender issues, share innovative research, and build collaborative networks.

This year’s congress emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to advancing gender equality and creating inclusive, sustainable communities. Hosted by the Central Luzon State University, the event served as a platform for dialogue on critical topics, including gender-responsive education, social equity, and community empowerment.

WPU’s delegation included CAS Social Work Faculty Michell L. Simyunn and Jade R. Baguna, CED Faculty Karen Salve Maute, 4th-year BSSW student April Joy V. Jurado (Main Campus), and 4th-year BEED students Karen Joy Palay and Yuri Shane Villegas Martin (PPC Campus).

The congress included plenary sessions with esteemed speakers, interactive workshops, and research presentations on topics such as gender equity in education, gender-responsive governance, and the role of women in addressing climate change. The event also provided networking opportunities, encouraging partnerships and collaboration to drive impactful change.

WPU continues to stand at the forefront of academic and advocacy efforts to promote gender and development locally and globally.
