Western Philippines University shone in gold as it held the 2nd Lingkod Bayani Awards Night on September 30, 2025, at the WPU Gymnasium, Main Campus, Aborlan, marking a grand culmination of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Month celebration.
With the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the event became a night of gratitude and recognition, honoring the dedication, passion, and integrity of WPU employees who continue to exemplify excellence in public service.
Among the highlights of the evening was the Awarding of Retirees and Service Awardees, recognizing employees for their loyal years of service to the university. The ceremony also included the Lingkod Bayani Unlad Award, given to individuals who have made remarkable contributions toward faculty and staff development and institutional growth, and the Lingkod Bayaning Maagap Award, recognizing those who demonstrate efficiency, timeliness, and proactive service. The Gawad Internasyunal Awardees were likewise honored for bringing international recognition to WPU through research, publication, or representation.
The Gawad Pangulo Awards honored outstanding individuals and teams who excelled in various fields, reflecting the President’s vision of a dynamic and future-ready university, while the Sinagtala Awards recognized excellence in instruction, research, extension, and technical advisory programs across colleges and campuses. Adding energy to the evening, the awarding of LARO Competition Winners celebrated champions in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and Larong Pinoy held during the Civil Service Month, alongside the recognition of offices and campuses that promoted environmental care and sustainability through the Clean and Green Awards.
