In line with the Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB) Resolution No. 19-2013 and the Philippine Green Public Procurement (GPP) Roadmap, the Western Philippines University Procurement Office has been directed to prioritize the implementation of Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) and Green Public Procurement (GPP) practices.
This directive aims to ensure that all procurement processes within the university incorporate environmental, social, and economic considerations. By integrating sustainability criteria into purchasing decisions, WPU commits to reducing negative environmental impacts, promoting resource efficiency, and supporting suppliers that adhere to sustainable and ethical standards.
The Procurement Office is tasked with reviewing existing procurement policies, updating technical specifications, and implementing procedures that reflect green and sustainable standards. This includes preferring products and services that are energy-efficient, recyclable, non-toxic, and environmentally responsible.
Through this initiative, the university strengthens its role as a model for responsible resource management and sustainable governance in higher education. The adoption of SPP and GPP supports the university’s alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to national and global sustainability goals.
