At the 7th Nutritionist-Dieticians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP) South Luzon Congress last November 28, Dr. Romeo Lerom of WPU College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences presented his paper entitled “Indigenous Fruit in Palawan: Harnessing Palawan’s Indigenous Bounty: Nutritional Powerhouses for Combating Malnutrition.”

Dr. Lerom discussed how indigenous tropical fruits can tackle malnutrition and food insecurity. He also highlighted their economic potential, stressing that cultivating native fruits can empower local communities, boost food security, and create sustainable livelihoods for a healthier, more resilient future.
