To empower the Palawan youth, the Western Philippines University enters a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DEPED-Palawan, DOST-MIMAROPA, KHALSA AID, and Champion Youth Philippines to introduce a pioneering program in mechatronics, robotics, and 21st-century leadership skills at Apurawan National High School on October 18, 2023.

The ceremonial MOU signing, which was a part of a two-day symposium, is a formal commitment to bring cutting-edge skills and leadership training to the youth of Palawan. Spearheaded by Dr. Ma. Josefina P. Abilay from the DOST-MIMAROPA Provincial Science and Technology Office, this initiative aims to provide students with hands-on training in technology-driven fields essential for the modern workforce.

The event dubbed the “School-based Training Workshop and 21st Century Skill Leadership Training and Symposium” also lined up various immersive workshops, where students and educators from various high schools across Palawan’s West Coast and Quezon regions dove into foundational skills in mechatronics and robotics. The activity aimed to drive the participants to gain technical expertise and leadership abilities essential for the future.

With plans to extend this program to other high schools in Palawan, the MOU represents a commitment to fostering progressive education, equipping students not only with innovative skills but also with the confidence to lead. This initiative reaffirms a collective vision to prepare Palawan’s youth for a technology-driven future, strengthening their role in the evolving global landscape.
