The “AGRI-TALK 2023” held from October 26-27, 2023 at WPU-Main in Aborlan, unified students, faculty, and industry leaders in an immersive experience designed to introduce modern agricultural technology to aspiring professionals. This year’s event, “Kubota-Saka Agritalk 2023: Tractor, Combine Harvester, and Transplanter Training,” was organized in partnership with Agri Component Corporation, Kubota Philippines, and the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers Pre-Professional Group (PSABE PPG) WPU Chapter and the Western Philippines University (WPU), bringing industry experts and advanced machinery training directly to WPU students.

Dr. Ma. Lourdes O. Marzo, VP of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Maribel B. Peneyra, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, graced the event, setting an inspiring tone alongside Engr. Deonilo Daduya, National Sales Manager of Kubota Philippines Inc., and other distinguished speakers. They warmly welcomed 3rd and 4th-year BS in Agriculture and BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering students, who eagerly embraced the chance to expand their technical knowledge and skills in real-world applications of agricultural machinery.

The event featured insightful briefings, hands-on demonstrations, and parts identification exercises with state-of-the-art tractors, rice transplanters, and combine harvesters. Students demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and skill in learning to identify and operate these machines, and many showcased their technical expertise in a series of competitive events. Rice Transplanter Parts Identification: 1st Place – Jethro A. Lusoc

Combine Harvester Parts Identification: 1st Place – Maybelle Hainna H. Gacot

Assessment Exam: 1st – Shem Abram Merq A. Espartero, 2nd – Javeson S. Tapia, 3rd – Ray Anne Marie Loseo

The “Kubota-Saka Agritalk 2023” concluded with a deep appreciation for Kubota Philippines and Agri Component Corporation for their support, making this event a meaningful milestone for students on their path to becoming future leaders in agriculture. With new skills, industry connections, and memories to carry forward, students are left motivated to embrace innovation in agriculture and make a positive impact in the community.
