On October 8, 2024, Western Philippines University proudly launched its Office on Muslim Affairs and Halal Research Center (WPU OMA-HRC), marking a significant milestone for Muslim and non-Muslim communities. The event, led by our supportive University President, Dr. Amabel S. Liao, was highlighted by a productive Focus Group Discussion (FGD) hosted by PEDCO BIMP-EAGA and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA, which brought together participants from various sectors.
During the FGD, participants voiced overwhelming support for the new program, emphasizing its positive impact on promoting multicultural understanding and respect. This initiative fosters inclusivity and provides new opportunities for both communities. The establishment of the Halal Research Center opens doors for research and innovation, particularly in the growing Halal industry, giving hope for regional economic growth.
