The Red Cross Youth Palawan, in its mandate to empower youth through humanitarian efforts, joined forces with the Western Philippines University Main Campus-College Red Cross Youth Council to relaunch the Pledge 25 Blood Donation campaign yesterday, August 14.
Under the theme “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often,” RCY Palawan aims to inspire individuals to contribute to a safe and sufficient blood supply. The Pledge 25 is a recurring initiative organized by RCY every three months throughout the province.
The event featured remarks from PRC-Palawan Board of Directors Chairperson and Puerto Princesa City Vice Mayor Hon. Maria Nancy Socrates, who outlined the program’s significance. Also in attendance were Aborlan Vice Mayor Marvin Madeja, BOD Ferdinand Bermejo, and VP for Student Affairs and Services Ruth Kutat.
A total of 75 blood units were collected from students, faculty, and staff of WPU Main Campus. The event was supported by the WPU Multi-Purpose Cooperative, which provided food for the donors, and the Aborlan MDRRMO, which donated lunch for the Red Cross Youth volunteers and medical technicians.
